Firearm Training Courses

Each unit standard requires a learner to demonstrate competency/skills in specific outcomes. Both formative and summative assessment methods are used to assess the competency/skills against specific outcomes. 100 national hours learning is required towards the first “firearm” unit standard and the national hours required for each additional “firearm” unit standard will be shortened to 30 national hours, due to the generic nature. The rationale for shortening the total learning hours is the fact that most of the knowledge and skills present are also required in some of the specific outcomes and assessment criteria. national hours refers to the amount of hours required by the average learner, but because the outcomes are learner paced, most learners with a reasonable amount of subject matter knowledge and skills, will be able to successfully complete a specific unit standard within two hours
